GRAMMAR
Simple Present Tense
a. Habitual Action
1. I go to Campus Everyday
2. Uncle goes to the office every morning
3. Ibeng goes to mosque every Friday
b. General Truth
1. Does mount Bromo often erupt?
2. The earth revolves around the sun
3. The sun rises in the east
c. Activities that will take in the Future, but the actions are in fact a usual practice.
1. I go to Borneo next Monday
2. The next begins in two weeks.
The Present Progressive Tense
[ S + be + V ing. ] = is, am, are
a. Activities that are in actual progress at the moments of speaking
1. Ibeng is watching TV at present
2. The Doctors is examining patients now.
3. Why are you sitting in My desk ?
b. A definite arrangements in the near future ( immediate plans ).
1. I am going to the theatre tonight.
2. He is coming soon.
The Simple Past Tense
Action completed in the past at a definite time and entirely separated from now.
( Past Events ).
1. They left an hour a go.
2. I got a mail last week.
3. Aunt worked abroad last month
It also expressing a past habit.
1. She Came here everyday when She lived here.
2. She always carried an umbrella.
The Past Progressive Tense
a. It Expresses temporary activities which were in progress at the time of another activity in the past.
1. I was studying when the light went out.
2. The Phone rang when I was having a bath.
b. Without a time expression it can indicate gradual development
1. It was getting dark.
2. The wind was rising.
The Simple Present Perfect Tense
It is used for an action beginning in the past, but that is related in the mind of the speaker with the moment of speaking.
1. He has been in the Malang for two years. [ he is still in the Malang now]
2. I have worked since I left school. [ still work ]
3. Fahri has lived here all his life. [ Fahri still lives here ]
Present Perfect Progressive
It is same with Simple Present Perfect Tense, but it is still Continuing up to the moment of speaking.
1. I've been waiting for an hour and he still hasn't turned.
2. He has been working at that office since he was 19.
Compare with the present perfect.
1. He was loved here for six month
Compare with the present perfect.
1. He was loved here for six month
2. He has been living here for six month.
3. How long have you learned English ?
4. How long have you been learned English ?
This Tense expresses activities that existed or occurred either before another activity in the past or before a point of time in the past.
1. They went home after they had finished their work.
2. The rain hadn't stopped when I left school.
3. Had your cousin sold
Used when the action began before the time of speaking in the past, and continued up to thah time, or stopped just before it.
1. We had been living in Pontianak for three years before we moved to Hindi.
2. Had you been waiting for us a long time when we arrived ?
This tense expresses an action that will occur in the future.
2. We will go to Japan next month.
3. Mother will celebrate her birthday tomorrow.
4. I shall telephone you tonight.
2. People will be angry if the government breaks the agreement.
2. We shall be working hard next week.
3. What will you be doing at 8? I will be watching TV.
1. They will have been studying English for 4 years.
2. He won't have been living in that house for over a year by this time next year.
3. Will he have been staying here for three weeks by next Sundays ?

for twenty years by next Christmas
for three days by the end of this week
for a week when My sister gets back

This Tense expresses activities that existed or occurred either before another activity in the past or before a point of time in the past.
1. They went home after they had finished their work.
2. The rain hadn't stopped when I left school.
3. Had your cousin sold
The Past Perfect Progressive
Used when the action began before the time of speaking in the past, and continued up to thah time, or stopped just before it.
1. We had been living in Pontianak for three years before we moved to Hindi.
2. Had you been waiting for us a long time when we arrived ?
The Simple Present Future Tense
This tense expresses an action that will occur in the future.
a. Future time.
1. He will leave in an hour.2. We will go to Japan next month.
3. Mother will celebrate her birthday tomorrow.
4. I shall telephone you tonight.
b. Used with Clauses of Condition.
1. If I drop this glass will break.2. People will be angry if the government breaks the agreement.
c. Make request or in asking for permission or affirmation.
1. I'll be waiting for you at the usual time.2. We shall be working hard next week.
3. What will you be doing at 8? I will be watching TV.
The Perfect Future Progressive
1. They will have been studying English for 4 years.
2. He won't have been living in that house for over a year by this time next year.
3. Will he have been staying here for three weeks by next Sundays ?
Note :
